WHOLE Body Health

People who live holistically often eat organic foods, keep their mind and body active, and practice forms of stress relief such as yoga.

What you eat directly effects how you think, look and feel on a daily basis.  A healthy diet means choosing foods that are whole and fresh, including a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein and healthy fats.  The industrialized diet is based on refined and processed foods such as white flour and white sugar.  These food are stripped of their health promoting fiber and nutrients. They leave you feeling unsatisfied and thus craving for more foods.  These dietary choices are linked to the three leading causes of death in North America, which is; heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

Fresh Fruits and Fabulous Vegetables Aim for 1-2 fruits per day and eat vegetables in abundance ( 3-4 handfuls) Eating a variety of colours of fruits and vegetables will provide you with rich source of phytonutrients such as flavonoids, carotenoids, and antioxidants that help fight off free radical damage and inflammation in the body.

Amazing Whole Grains Aim for 3-4 servings per day (one serving = size of your fist) Whole grains provide a great source of fiber and nutrients. They also slow digestion which help to control blood sugar levels and minimize weight gain. Some of best sources are; quinoa, pearl barely, brown basmati rice, or, 100% whole wheat/grain bread (if tolerated).

Healthy Fats

Aim for 5-7 servings per day.( one serving = size of 1 die) These fats help to transport your fat soluble vitamins A,D, E and K, as well as combat inflammation in the body. Examples of these fats extra virgin olive oil, nuts, avocado, seeds including omega three rich chia and flax.

Satisfying Water Aim for 6-8 cups per day (or half your body weight formula) Water is vital for life. Our body is made up of at least 60% water. Water helps to cleanse the body of toxins and keep our muscles and organs hydrated. Try to drink quality spring/artesian water whenever possible, if not then filtered water.
